Internships
San Jose Country Club
I was involved in a three month outside operations internship at San Jose Country Club. I spent most of my time with cart staff but was also given the opportunity to work with the pool and gym faculty. I was given the opportunity to assist with planning weekly news letters for members which was great insight.
Julington Creek Golf Course
This is a position that I have held since 2018 and have grown and learned the most about the golf world from. I was able to run events, handle memberships, and help manage the weekly games.

Florida State University offers an opportunity every semester for its hospitality students to find internships or future careers. After years of going to them I can say that they are 100% worth it. The opportunities you have just by showing up and conversing with all the different recruiters is just one of many.
Guest Speakers
Guests speakers were a great way to learn about what people experienced in our fields and how they were able to get to where they are now. I was given the chance to meet the member organizer of Saint Andrews and we were even given the chance to learn about Gozzer Ranch, where you get to really see the difference
CMAA Involvement
2023-Present
My involvement with the Club Management Association of America began in September of 2024 upon my degree transfer where after two years I had decided it was time for a change. CMAA gave me the chance to learn and grow my knowledge in a way that would not be possible based off pure academics. I look forward to my career in private clubs and for when it brings me back to CMAA.
Reflection Essay
Over the summer of my internship at San Jose Country Club I was given my first chance to experience a private club as a staff member. Seeing how members at a private club differ from a public one was a fun experience because seeing how members actually built relationships with one another, it was like one giant bubble. The staff was even more surprising as there wasn't a member who they couldn't remember. No matter what they always greeted members by last name when engaging in conversations. By the end of it all I was able to get most of the names down but seeing this gave me respect for even the smallest of roles at a club, since even they would go out of their ways to remember who they interacted with. One thing that I discovered about myself was that I am much more desired to work face to face than back in the office purely. Engaging with members, PNM's, and staff was one of the more memorable factors as building all of these relationships and connections has still helped and impacted me to this day just by building memories. One of the more so let downs of the internship was having to occasionally work in a range picker which might be a top 10 hottest experience of all time, but it had its bright spots as it was a chance to let down and get away if you were peopled out.
While woking at The Julington Creek Golf Club I got to experience what it was like to have more of a manager role. I helped outside in the cart barn, pro shop, and even in the bar. I was given the opportunity to help run their Thursday Scramble game where 50-80 players would come out and play a buy in 9 hole two man scramble format. We are required to watch over and handle the pots money by dispersing it back to the winners for the day. In the beginning I started out as a cart boy but soon during COVID when things got tight I was given an even bigger role by being asked to step up and move into the pro shop, shortly after I was asked to help with the bar since social distancing issues were in place. Given the opportunity that this opened for me I was able to learn a broad variety of skills that have helped me even in my other internships. Having the opportunities to work at these courses really set me up for who I am today, because all of the decisions that I had to make built on eachother and helped me learn way more work place decisions than I could have ever in classes.
